Talent Showcase
In 2004, David Brandman volunteered at LTV’s telethon fundraiser—and ended up stage-managing the 14-hour telethon. “There were about 4-5 acts per hour that we had to get on. It was great. And the director suggested that I do my own show.” But the question was what kind of show? “I’m into bowling, but I don’t think people would be interested in watching someone talk about bowling.” So David drew from the telethon. “I thought of all the talent that was there.”
Today, Talent Showcase is a big hit. “We hold auditions. We don’t take everyone. But there’s a lot of talent in East Hampton. We’re giving them exposure and experience on T.V. We have three cameras; we film before a live studio audience and edit the show and make it as professional as possible. And people love it.”
