REEB!
(Real East End Brass)
is an ensemble of music educators that is rooted in the sounds of New Orleans Brass Band Jazz and Funk. Formed in 2018, the group performs inspired takes of their favorite tunes, as well as original songs from their debut album, Music to Your Life, and more from their growing catalog. Drawing from their diverse expertise and eclectic inspirations, the band is uniquely dynamic. Their high-energy sound and their spirited enthusiasm make for one-of-a-kind performances that shouldn’t be missed.

Chris Mandato
Chris Mandato is REEB’s trumpet player. Playing since a young age, Chris studied through college at SUNY Geneseo and CUNY Queens. He is currently the East Hampton High School Band Director. Chris’s gigging experience began as part of his high school band The Supercools. Since then he has performed throughout NYC with The Pandemics (NY Ska) and across Long Island with cover and party band, Fuzz. After settling on the East End thanks to his connection with the Jazz Jam Session and establishing his teaching career, Chris initiated the idea of REEB as a way to pursue the music of New Orleans, write original music, and gig locally.

Dylan Greene
Dylan Greene is the vocalist for REEB! A native of Springs, Dylan began singing in the 4th grade school chorus, and went on to participate in vocal music groups and theatrical productions throughout his formative years. Raised by parents from Montauk and Springs, Dylan is a proud and grateful Bonacker. Dylan is driven to create and share meaningful and memorable musical experiences, and REEB gives him the unique opportunity to do that alongside his peers, colleagues, and friends, and to perform for audiences across the East End. Outside of REEB, Dylan teaches K-5 general music and Middle School Chorus at Springs School, he volunteers with the Heart of Springs, and he is passionate about supporting local and original music with his newest project, East End Originals.

Joseph Randazzo
Joseph Randazzo is the newest member of REEB, and plays sousaphone and bass guitar with the band. He is a music teacher at Riverhead High School, where he directs the high school band program. He continues to enjoy a varied performing career across Long Island. His performance credits include the Paumanok Stompers, Atlantic Wind Symphony, Long Island Wind Ensemble, North Shore Pops, Sound Symphony Orchestra, Massapequa Philharmonic, CM Performing Arts Pit Orchestra, Barrington Drive Brass Band, Great South Bay Brass Quintet and others. Most of all, Joseph loves to perform and create music with REEB!, which he believes to be one of the most dynamic and energetic groups around. He hopes that today’s performance gives you the freedom to live in the present moment and experience an unbridled spirit of joy.

Nick Silipo
Nick Silipo is the guitarist and a background vocalist for Real East End Brass. Nick's musical proclivity started at an early age. Coming from a musical family, his father, Bucky, had been playing out across Long Island since the 70s in popular groups including Hot Wax, Vivian and the Merry Makers, and the 3 B's. Surrounded by music, Nick grew to love it early, and started playing alto saxophone in Springs School. He took up the guitar at age 14 and immersed himself in all he could, moving from the bedroom to various high school bands and basement jams (often playing with friend and vocalist Dylan Greene.) After moving back to the East End from New York City in 2018, Nick was asked to join a budding project yet-to-be-named REEB! And the rest, they say, is history. Nick cites inspiration from Yoshiaki Manabe, George Harrison, and Cory Wong, to name a few. His musical roots on the guitar are steadfast, and he tries to inject a little rock'n'roll into the brass band sound.

Meghan Kelly
Meghan Kelly is the clarinet and baritone saxophone player for REEB! She went to Ithaca College where she studied bassoon and music education. She has been teaching general music for 11 years now and it is her dream job. Currently Meghan is a K-4 general music teacher in the Riverhead School District with her bandmate Joe. Meghan loves music, and more importantly, making music with friends. She also performs with GUNK, an all girl funk band that she started in 2023 as a way to make more music with more friends. Meghan enjoys playing saxophone in REEB because she can jump around while playing outside and making music with all of her pals.

Tye Granger
Tye Granger is a professional woodwind player originally from Westhampton Beach. Studying at SUNY Fredonia, he majored in music education and saxophone performance while also directing the Fredonia Jazz Ensemble, Fred Mills Brass Band, and performing in the Fredonia Saxophone Ensemble. On return to Long Island, Tye began his teaching career in the East Hampton School District as the Middle School Band Director. Outside of professional life, Tye has played with Firetog & Co., Stage39 Productions, Flowering Branches, Rebel Elle, and most notably, REEB! As a lifelong learner with interest in a variety of instruments and styles, Tye’s involvement in REEB combines a praxialist educational philosophy, a cabaret of musical styles, a flair for the dramatic, and an outlet for original music.

Troy Grindle
Troy Grindle is a multi-instrumentalist (drums, violin, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards) who has been performing music all over the East Coast for decades. In REEB, he plays drums, fiddle, and also sings. A retired orchestra teacher, Troy has performed with Real East End Brass, The Seismatics, Peconic County Ramblers, The Sharks, Hampton Festival Orchestra, Alhambra Orchestra, as well as numerous chamber ensembles and pit orchestras, and is also a free-lance violinist. His musical influences include Jeff Beck, Stephane Grapelli, Neil Peart, Louis Belson, The Klezmatics, Stuff Smith, Janis Joplin and Fritz Kreisler. He makes a killer chicken soup.

Shawn Ward
Shawn Ward is a trombonist and sousaphonist in REEB. A graduate of Syracuse University, Shawn cultivated a deep appreciation for music and education and fostered a love of performing through participation in both the marching band and pep band. An East End native, Shawn returned from college and has been teaching in various local school districts over the last decade. As a founding member of REEB, Shawn contributes to the band’s vibrant New Orleans style brass sound, and is proud to perform and create dynamic music with his friends.
