Phil Berg Print
Phil Berg with Umma
Phil Berg has owned his motorcycle for three years. Heʼs put over 35,000 miles on it, and his dog Umma has been on board the whole way. Thatʼs extraordinary to be sure—but why have a show on LTV? “I was in California, and I got this coffee served in a cup that said ʻA writer is someone who wrote today.ʼ So after about eight cups of coffee, I said, ʻOK, I get the message.ʼ”

So Phil wrote and published a book about his adventures riding his bike with Umma on the back. When he returned to Montauk, he was looking for a way to make a contribution—without going into politics! “I went to NPR, and they interviewed me about my book. But at LTV, I spent a day, and then I was able to have my own show.” “Travels with Umma” is Phil Bergʼs freewheelinʼ ride through observation and opinion, with Umma by his side.

“Travels with Umma” airs Thursdays at 5:30pm

LTV Wins Community Media Awards Print
Retreat PromoWe all like a little positive feedback! Even when we turn 25.

This year, the Alliance for Community Media, a nationwide, non-profit organization (www.alliancecm.org) committed to assuring everyoneʼs access to electronic media, gave LTV two of its prestigious programming awards in a competition that covered the entire Northeast region. LTVʼs “Reading with Rockey” won second place in the childrenʼs programming category, and a video for “The Retreat”, which provides domestic violence services for East Hampton, also won second prize in the promotions category.

Weʼd like to congratulate—and thank!—everyone who worked on these two very worthwhile projects. And we look forward to producing more work like this in the future.
