LTV COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

LTV has created a scholarship to honor (2) students with a passion for community media, lifelong learning, and free speech. It is offered to any high school senior living in the township of East Hampton or Southampton who is pursuing an education in film, television, broadcasting or radio. Ideal candidates will have these qualities: a love of story and a commitment to our community along with a strong belief that all communities deserve to have access to accurate, unfiltered information.

 

TO BE ELIGIBLE, STUDENTS MUST:

- reside in the township of East Hampton or Southampton year-round

- be graduating from high school or receiving a GED by June 2025

- be seeking secondary education in communications, media, or related field

- demonstrate school / community involvement and strong academic achievement

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

- application

- a personal essay on one of the following topics:

      how has media shaped your understanding of community,
      and how do you hope to use media to give a voice to others?

      why do you believe every community deserves access to media,
      and how can media help create a more informed and connected society?

      • describe a story (real or imagined) that you believe needs to be told.
        Why is it important, and how would you bring it to life with the use of media?

- link to short video or audio submission of student’s work
- two letters of recommendation (one letter should be focused on the student's community involvement and one should be from a person who is not a relative)​

Application deadline is May 15, 2025
Awards will be announced in June 2025

LTV plans to permanently endow this scholarship.
