Two distinct voices, one shared language: jazz at its most intimate and inspired.

Grammy Winner Michael Rodriguez has played with Quincy Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea, Charlie Haden, and on August 28th he'll play for you!

This young phenom brings one of the summer's most exciting jazz evenings to the stages of LTV!

Mike Rodriguez is a Grammy-nominated trumpeter and flugelhornist known for his versatility, lyricism, and technical brilliance. A mainstay on the modern jazz scene, Rodriguez has collaborated with an extraordinary array of artists, including Chick Corea, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Kurt Elling. His sound—both bold and sensitive—makes him a first-call player for projects ranging from straight-ahead jazz to large-scale orchestral compositions.

A native of Queens, New York, Rodriguez studied at the University of Miami and the New School, quickly establishing himself as a rising star in the New York jazz community. His tenure with the Maria Schneider Orchestra helped define his voice as a soloist with a gift for melodic storytelling and harmonic subtlety, while his collaborations with big bands and small ensembles alike reveal a deep understanding of both ensemble interplay and personal expression.

Rodriguez has released his own albums as a leader, including Reverence and Pathways, which showcase his compositional depth and his ability to blend modern jazz vocabulary with Latin American influences and cinematic textures. His playing is as informed by the jazz trumpet lineage—Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw—as it is by contemporary currents of innovation.

Equally committed to education, Rodriguez teaches and conducts masterclasses internationally, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of jazz musicians. His artistry continues to evolve, marking him as one of the most thoughtful and in-demand trumpeters of his generation.
