Axel Quincke

(born December 27, 1989, in Adrogué, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an internationally active Argentine concert pianist, composer and producer recognized for his distinctive artistic voice, combining classical repertoire with tango, improvisation, contemporary music and multidisciplinary performance formats. He began studying piano at the age of nine, initially developing his musical language intuitively before entering formal training. Over the years he refined his technique and interpretative depth under the guidance of distinguished teachers including Pía Sebastiani, Ignacio Gómez Bustamante, Mónica Cosachov and Alan Kwiek, the Buenos Aires–based manager of Martha Argerich. His artistic development also includes advanced studies and masterclasses in Europe, notably in Vienna with Maestro Gustav Balanesco, disciple of Emil Gilels, culminating in a public concert performance at the Kaisersaal in Vienna. He completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma of Geneva, Switzerland, with a concentration in music composition and performance.

Quincke has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Argentina, including the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Teatro Avenida, the Planetario Galileo Galilei, the Senate of the Province of Buenos Aires, the historic U.S. Embassy Residence Palacio Bosch, the Jockey Club of Buenos Aires, the Beethoven Foundation Auditorium, the University of Buenos Aires’ renowned “Cycle of Great Concerts,” the Campo Argentino de Polo, the Palermo Hippodrome and large-scale cultural landmarks such as Floralis Genérica, where he produced and performed an open-air concert supported by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. His appearances have positioned him among a select group of Argentine pianists presenting both classical masterworks and innovative crossover programs in major institutional settings.

Internationally, Quincke has performed across Europe and the United States, with concerts and broadcasts in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia and Slovakia. In 2021 he was invited to perform at the Waldorf Astoria New York on the restored Steinway & Sons piano once played by Cole Porter, in a concert broadcast live. He has presented tango recitals and his own transcriptions of Astor Piazzolla at the NH Collection in New York and has appeared in the Hamptons cultural circuit, including televised performances. In 2025 he recorded Piazzolla’s “Libertango” at the historic Estadio de Ferrocarril Oeste in Buenos Aires, a symbolic project merging Argentine musical heritage with monumental urban space.

His career includes high-profile artistic collaborations with internationally recognized figures. In 2012 he was awarded the Plan Ballantine’s Award for Creativity, Innovation and Talent, leading to the production of the album “Impression” alongside Zeta Bosio, legendary bassist of Soda Stereo, one of the most influential rock bands in Latin American history and recipient of the MTV Latin America Legend Award. He has collaborated and performed with Virginia Da Cunha (Bandana), Zorrito Von Quintiero and Nico Bereciartua (The Black Crowes), and has worked with internationally established violinist Gonzalo Arguello of the Slovak National Theatre Orchestra and Slovak Radio Orchestra and Sara Ryan, member of the Argentinian National Symphonic Orchesta. His performances have been associated with major international brands and cultural sponsors including Dior, Honda, Absolut, Beck’s, Rochas and Stella Artois, reflecting his presence within high-level artistic and corporate cultural events.

Quincke’s repertoire spans Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, alongside tango, jazz, rock and free improvisation, often presented in immersive concert formats that dissolve the conventional separation between performer and audience. His productions integrate live visual arts, performance art and electronic textures, positioning him at the intersection of classical excellence and contemporary experimentation. In addition to his concert activity, he has composed original music for theater and film, including the play “Inquietante y Extraña Soledad,” based on Guy de Maupassant’s “Le Horla,” and the short film “La Tristeza.” He premiered and recorded the orchestral work “Evocation” by composer Alex Nante in Buenos Aires, a composition that received Honorable Mention at the Argentine National Awards.

A recognized cultural entrepreneur, Quincke has founded and curated multidisciplinary series such as Ravel, The Piano Man and Moonrise, producing large-scale events that unite musicians, visual artists, poets and performers in innovative artistic environments of Buenos Aires. He has served as music curator (Campo Cuttica Art Foundation Southampton) and artistic director for concert cycles in major Buenos Aires venues and has collaborated with contemporary art platforms and collectives connected to global companies such as Hermès, Google, Netflix and Mercado Libre.

His work has received significant media attention in Argentina’s most prominent national outlets, including La Nación, Perfil and Ámbito Financiero, where critics have highlighted his virtuosity, versatility and innovative programming. He has appeared in televised performances on leading Argentine networks and in international radio broadcasts, including Amsterdam FM in the Netherlands. In addition to his performance career, Quincke has given masterclasses, lectures and concert talks at institutions such as the National University of the Arts and the University of Belgrano, addressing piano interpretation, the works of Astor Piazzolla, and the relationship between music, emotion and consciousness.

Axel Quincke’s trajectory reflects sustained national and international recognition, collaboration with distinguished artists and institutions, significant media coverage and a consistent commitment to expanding classical music into contemporary cultural dialogue.

Haim Mizrahi

“Most importantly, I curate at LTV because I believe culture must be built from within the place where I stand. I don’t wait for permission. If a structure exists, I use it fully; if it is quiet, I ignite it; if it feels fragmented, I gather it. For me, curation is not management, it is stewardship.” - Haim Mizrahi
