About the Musicians

The artists of the unique Moss Ensemble relate to each other not only through their love of music, but also through their long histories working in NYC. “I’ve crossed paths and performed with these musicians for many years,” says Elizabeth. “Marshall and I go way, way back, and I can’t remember the first time Darcy and I met. Mary and I were first introduced while playing concerts for school children. As individual performers, we’ve been on the same programs and have enjoyed each other’s artistry for years!” Marshall continues: “But it wasn’t until the memorial concert for the late Mimi Stern-Wolfe, our dear colleague and mentor, that the four of us were asked to perform a piece entitled Moss, which led to forming our ensemble of the same name.” “We share an enthusiasm for thorough exploration of the music we choose,” adds Mary, “and we each delight in speaking about the pieces throughout the concert, allowing a warm connection with our audience.” Darcy agrees: “We love working together, we love the music, and it feels very special to be a part of this group. And we are thrilled to return to LTV.”

Darcy Dunn - Soprano

DARCY DUNN sings chamber opera, classical music, and new works in NYC, and is a founding member and featured performer of the Magic Circle Opera, as well as a graduate of Magic Circle training under Ray Evans Harrell. She has performed leading roles with Chelsea Opera, Bronx Opera, Encompass Opera, Opera Manhattan, and Downtown Music Productions, and has been a featured soloist at the Windham Chamber Music Festival. With her husband, Mark Singer, and pianist/musical director Julia Mendelsohn, Darcy helped create the Catskill Mountain Foundation’s “Mountaintop Celebration of Song” in Hunter, NY, featuring 8 original productions over 10 years. The trio appeared at LTV in 2023 and 2024 in their original shows “Headliners and One-Liners--Songs and Stories of the Catskills Resorts,” about the hey-day of the great entertainers of the Borsht Belt, and in “All Mankind Has Lost its Reason,” about the rise of fascism in Weimar, Germany, featuring music of the era. And, as co-founder and soprano of the acclaimed Moss Ensemble, Darcy is thrilled yet again to return and perform with Moss in their second concert at LTV.
